I’ve given two stars because we sang my favourite hymn this morning, ‘Be Thou My Vision.’ However, I cannot remember ever hearing a sermon preached where I disagreed so much. This was the first sermon in a series on ‘The Church per se Rebranding.’ I was very surprised when the guy preaching talked about the brand of Nike, when you look at who Nike ‘is.’ Nike is named after the Greek goddess of victory…. If you wanted to use a secular brand, then I’m quite sure something like Coca-Cola would have been better suited. We then looked at four main distractions… 1. Being Right V Being Loving The example, was Jesus, being full of grace and truth. 2. Politicising Christianity V Representing King Jesus…. The church is not going to tell you how to vote so no argument here. Although on a personal note, I find it very difficult, knowing who to vote for in the current climate. I don’t trust any politician. 3. Self Seeking V Self Sacrificing. I think this was the one where he talked about the churches response to the ‘covid plandemic’ (There is NO misspelling here). This really made me quite angry because the response of the church (the body of Christ), during the plandemic was reprehensible. The church in closing its doors lost its message and the reason for its existence. When the Bible says: ‘…not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…’ Hebrews 10:25 (KJV) It means exactly that, it does not mean that you can substitute ‘Zoom’ for meeting together. How did those people who haven’t got the Internet cope? How do those people who are intimidated by tech cope? How did those people who haven’t got the correct device cope? Zoom was a cop out… But, it’s actually more serious than that so, let’s see what the Bible says and therein we will find the lost message… ‘ And He said unto them, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name, they shall cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:15-18 (KJV) Now, to the best of my knowledge, when it says they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover, I believe that means all sickness and disease INCLUDING COVID!!! A group of us were quite embarrassed at the response of the church at this time. So much so that we started a brand-new Christian Fellowship. No masks, no social distancing, plenty of hugs and plenty of prayer. Oh, one other thing too… the vast majority of us declined to accept the dangerous vaccine, that the government was trying to foist on people. So the self seeking is doing what the government says, and disregarding scripture V the self-sacrificing, which is being available to meet with people and looking after their health both physical and mental…(in person) following scripture. 4. Driven by Fear V Driven by Love Fear was obeying the government and patronising the rules which were designed to inflict and bring fear onto people. Love was disregarding the rules and following the teaching of Jesus Christ, where we are called to love people unconditionally. Again, I am indebted to scripture. ‘…Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth…’ 1 Corinthians 13:6 (KJV) The church doesn’t need rebranding, what it needs is to be obedient to The Great Commission.

I felt a true atmosphere of worship. The Word was also preached in its simplicity. I enjoyed being there.

Great church, warm welcome, modern building. Good for a visit on a Sunday or to hire a nice clean well kept room/hall for functions.

This church loves people and is welcoming. The teaching is Christ-centered and aims to help people grow into a deeper understanding of His love, regardless of where they are in their faith journey. The children’s programming is engaging and lively and space is made for parents to watch or even participate. Accessible services for all abilities is also a component of the church’s DNA. All who want to explore the Christian faith are welcome.

Nice big meeting space with kitchen and toilets available. You need to find parking in surrounding streets. The entrance corridor adjoining the meeting hall gets noisy with other visitors and their children.

Lovely modern facilities, about 3 years old, and a warm welcome. Plans to extend the worship centre further.
